Our mother was a devout Christian and loving wife, caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She grew up in Lincoln Park, attended Jefferson High School and excelled in orchestra playing the viola with perfect pitch. She worked at Mann, Farah, and Levi’s factories until 1977 when she became a full-time homemaker. She made a beautiful and loving home where her children felt loved and safe each day. Mom was a phenomenal baker and was encouraged by dad to bake cakes for his employees at Levi’s. Her cake baking business started in 1977 and thrived for many years earning her the name of the “cake lady” baking numerous for all occasions for friends, relatives and customers alike. Her baking also included making Biscochos, which then earned her the title of the “cookie lady.” She was a financial wizard and very crafty making clothing, high school corsages, garters, and floral arrangements.
It was her strong faith in God that guided every step she took, keeping her family together until her last breath.
“Strength and honor are her clothing;… She looketh well to the ways of her household;… her children arise up and call her blessed;…” Proverbs 31:25-28
