Carmen Molinar Zamora passed away at the age of 92 on March 31, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 16th, 1933, in Santa Clara, New Mexico. There she met the love of her life, Elifas Sanchez Zamora, whom she married.
She was a graduate of Western New Mexico University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. In 1960, the family moved to El Paso, Texas, where Carmen became a teacher at Bowie High School. She subsequently moved to Terrace Hills Intermediate School, where she taught 7th-grade English until she retired in 1991, having earned many awards and recognitions. She was beloved by her students, many of whom stayed in contact throughout her life. After retirement, she focused on her family, playing the role of grandma, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a pious and faithful member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and always attended mass until she was physically unable to do so. She is preceded in death by her husband Elifas, parents Miguel and Amelia Molinar, and siblings Mike Molinar and Cecilia Hernandez. She is survived by her brother David Molinar and sister Belen Robles; daughter, Gloria (Greg); sons Samuel and David; grandchildren Benjamin (Erin), Nathan (Shea), David Jr, and Marissa; and great-grandchildren Collin, Sammy, Myra, Keira, Cruz, and Ashlyn.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home- Northeast, Friday, April 24th, from 11 AM to 12 PM, followed by a Rosary from 12 PM to 1 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 1:30 PM, with a Committal Service at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 3 PM. Carmen will be escorted into the church by her devoted son, Sam. Honorary pallbearers are beloved brother-in-law Armando Robles, son-in-law Greg Keethler, grandchildren Benjamin Keethler, Nathan Keethler, David Zamora, and Marissa Zamora, and great-grandchildren Collin and Sammy Keethler.
