Carolina S. Torres, 91, went to her eternal reward on 31 December 2012. She was born in Candelaria, TX in 1921 and was a lifelong resident of EI Paso. She is survived by her children, Robert G. Torres, Carlos A. Torres, David S. Torres and Elva M. Ruiz and their spouses Violet, Linda, Kevin, and Efrain. Additionally she is survived by 5 grandchildren (Gabriel, Marc, Amanda, Christina and Efrain), 2 great granddaughters and a brother, Abel Sanchez. Carolina was preceded in death by her father (Domingo), mother (Tomasa), sisters (Maria Luz and Ophelia), her husband (Gustavo) and her grandson (Phillip). A housewife and a homemaker, Carolina dedicated her life to her family. She had a very special spot in heart for her nephew, Marc O'Leary and nieces, Elaine Garcia and Betty Nevarez, her sisters' children. She loved and treated them as her own. Carolina was a kind and gentle woman who gave more than she took. She took great pride in her family and was a very pious woman. Because of her religious beliefs we celebrate her celestial graduation with visitation on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 4pm to 9pm, Rosary/Vigil at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750 Carolina Dr. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9am on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at St Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 Clark, followed by interment next to her husband at 10:30am at Ft Bliss National Cemetery. The family owes a debt of gratitude to Dr. Luis Guerra and Dr. Inez Sanchez whose bedside manner and medical expertise added to the comfort and care of Carolina in the last years of her life. Additionally, special recognition goes to Irma Daher, Carolina's first cousin and daytime caregiver, always assuming her duties with the love of a family member and unyielding dedication.
