Catherine Genon DeVaney

Catherine Genon DeVaney passed away on March 15th, 2023 in El Paso Texas. She was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma on August 11, 1933 to John J. (Jake), and Elizabeth Jackson.

She graduated from Cheyenne High School with Honors. Genon was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years James J. DeVaney. Genon and James made their first home in Oklahoma City where she was employed as a bookkeeper at Norton Buick Company. She chose to stay at home with her children after they were born. She returned to work after moving to El Paso for EPISD and retired as a Cafeteria Manager at Wainwright Elementary.

She is survived by her two children, Dennis Jay DeVaney and wife June of Cowpens, South Carolina, Diane Ketelboeter and Husband Jerry of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren Joseph DeVaney and wife Janeen of Florida, Micah DeVaney and wife Adriane of South Carolina, and Samuel DeVaney and wife Linzie of Nevada. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her great grandchildren, Jewel, Jackson, Jonas, Jude, Annalise, Madelyn, Jillian, Allie, Colt, and Scotti.

Genon volunteered for her church wherever she lived and was also a volunteer for the Boy and Girl Scouts, AARP, as well as The School Food Service Association. She loved her Church, Family and Friends.

Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 31, 2023 at New Hope Lutheran Church, 4801 Sun Valley Dr., El Paso, Texas 79924. Committal Service will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the New Hope Lutheran Church. Please visit online registry at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
