Charles Nelson Germany

On Friday, August 16, 2013, Charles Nelson Germany passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was born in Milburn, Texas on December 25, 1923. He was a 1941 graduate of Richland Springs High School, where he was a football and track standout. He was also a proud member of FFA, where he was a member of the State and National meat grading champion team for 1941. He went on to play freshman football at Texas Tech University. He then served in the Air Force for 30 years as an aircraft armament instructor at various bases including the Air Force Academy, an instructor of munitions and weapon and managed NCO and Officers’ Clubs in Europe and Colorado. Upon retiring from the military, he became the Chief Officer of Security for the First National Bank of Denver (now Wells Fargo). He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as a Worshipful Master in Denver, Colorado. In 1996, he moved to El Paso to be closer to his family. He is survived by his wife, Erika, who he was happily married to for 62 years, two daughters, Nena Germany Greer (Michael) of Evanston, Wyoming and Lesa Provenghi (Art) of El Paso, his grandchildren, Katarina and Michelle Provenghi and Erik Greer, with whom he spent countless hours playing catch in the backyard, and his sister, Mary Marble of Allen, Texas. The family would like to thank Choice Hospice for all the help and care they provided and Mark Benitez and his family for all of their help, support and friendship. It was greatly appreciated. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Graveside Service will be at 11 am Thursday, August 22, 3013 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. Service entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East
