Charles “Chuckie” Alan Nass was lovingly carried to his eternal home by our Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the age of 62.
Born in El Paso, Texas, on April 21, 1962, Chuckie faced many challenges from an early age, having been diagnosed with deafness along with multiple intellectual, mental, and physical disabilities. Though nonverbal and limited in many ways, Chuckie had a sharp mind and an extraordinary memory that often amazed those around him.
Due to the lack of specialized local support during his early years, Chuckie spent his childhood at Abilene State School. In 1986, he transitioned to the El Paso State Supported Living Center (EPSSLC), which became his true and loving home for the remainder of his life.
During his many years at EPSSLC, Charles was deeply loved and cared for by the residents, staff, and caregivers who became his extended family. His silly grin, animated expressions, and contagious giggle brought joy and warmth to everyone who knew him. Though he could not speak, Chuckie communicated in his own unique and beautiful way, forming deep bonds and leaving lasting impressions on the hearts of caregivers, staff, and fellow residents alike. His spirit radiated kindness and light—a reminder of the beauty, light and grace found in every life.
Chuckie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Arlie LaVerne Nass and Cornelia M. Jacobs Nass. He is survived by his devoted sister, Shelly Bohren, and his loving brother, Steven Nass, both of whom will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
Family and friends are invited to honor Chuckie’s life during a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Homes–Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive, El Paso, TX. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 6:00 p.m. His Committal Service will be scheduled for a later date and will be held at Ft Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave., El Paso, TX 79906.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Charles' memory to the El Paso State Supported Living Center Volunteer Services Council, Attn: Maria Martinez, 6700 Delta Dr., El Paso, TX 79905.
Chuckie was a special soul who brought joy, laughter, and love to all who knew him. His life was a precious, beautiful and rare gift, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
