Cheryl Lynn Shofner

Cheryl Lynn Shofner, 56, went home into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at her home. She passed peacefully after a long illness, and was surrounded by her loving husband, family and faithful dog Popeye. She was born September 22, 1959 in El Paso, Texas to Andrew “Johnny” and Marica “Pat” Gahan. Cheryl was a long time employee with Zachry where she was a Document Control Supervisor and an Employment Manager. She loved every animal she came across, decorating, crafts, traveling and being outdoors, but her favorite past time of all was fishing and being with her family. Cheryl was bigger than life, and if she loved you she did so unconditionally. She lived her life for her family. She was a wonderful, amazing woman and will be remembered for her kind giving heart and her huge BEAUTIFUL smile. She made our world a brighter place and she will be forever missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her. Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Larry Shofner; her son, Arthur and wife Dawn of Chaparral, New Mexico; her mother, Marica “Pat” Gahan of Chaparral, New Mexico; brother, Randy Gahan and wife Billie of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Peggy Slocum and husband Steve of Bruceville, Texas, Shirley Labree and husband Larry Geddes of Chaparral, New Mexico, and Marcy Davis and husband Ron of Las Cruces, New Mexico; her grandchildren, Sheridan, Arthur, Raelyn, and Lexi; her mother and father in law, Tom and Mary Shofner; brother and sister in law, Tommy and Rhonda Shofner. Cheryl was also blessed with several nieces and nephews all who loved her tremendously. She was preceded in death by her dad “Johnny” Gahan, who was her hero, and shared her love for fishing, we’re confident they are fishing together in Heaven. Gathering of Remembrance will be Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr., El Paso, Texas. Interment is Private.
