With heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Connie Gardner, on March 7, 2016. Born in Garden City, Texas on June 23, 1936, she pursued a career in education. She attended Texas Tech University where she received a degree in Education, and started a family with her husband, John Gardner. She was devoted to her two children, Shawna and John. Always a strong and independent woman, she decided to move her family to San Antonio to experience a greener part of Texas, and at that time she continued her studies earning a Master’s Degree in Education from UTSA, while also working as a counselor in the San Antonio Independent School District. She loved working with the kids and families in the elementary schools in San Antonio, and did so up until her retirement, when she decided to move to El Paso to be closer to her family. In El Paso, she taught English as a Second Language at St. Clements School and joined the Bridge Center. Connie was a vibrant and interesting woman, she was an avid reader, loved to play bridge, paint, attend movies and travel. She could make people laugh and always loved a good conversation. She will be missed dearly by her family. She is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Klydie Scudday, and her sister Kerney Merrell.
