Daphne Rhea Love Hamilton

January 18, 1943 – March 25, 2026

Daphne Rhea Love Hamilton, 83, was called home by our Lord on March 25, 2026. Born January 18, 1943, in Uvalde, Texas. She was a 1960 graduate of Austin High School and attended Texas Western College (UTEP). While in college, she met a handsome young man named Douglas Hamilton, who was stationed at Biggs Air Force Base at the time. They married on April 6, 1962. In the following years they were stationed around the country and abroad. When Doug retired from the Air Force, they decided to be near family and returned to El Paso in 1976.

Daphne decided, after her military wife days, that she wanted to go into real estate. She earned her license in December 1976 and was an active and proud Realtor in El Paso for over 45 years. Daphne had a big heart for her hometown and was always actively serving in a variety of ways. Her activities ranged from the American Red Cross, where she became the El Paso Chapter President; she served on the El Paso Historic Landmark Commission; served as President of the Women's Council of Realtors; and served as President of the El Paso Republican Women—just to name a few. She had a passion for parliamentary procedure and would happily serve as parliamentarian for multiple organizations. She was also known for teaching it and making it fun. She was active in her church, first at St. Paul’s Methodist and later at Trinity-First Methodist. She spent her later years watching her grandchildren grow, spending time with her “Downton Abbey” friend group, and taking a couple of special European trips.

Daphne is preceded in death by her parents, Laetitia (Tish) and Tom Love. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Doug Hamilton; their three children, DeAnn Hamilton and husband Wolf, David Hamilton and wife Doreen, and Dana Walters and husband Bolton; five grandchildren, Alex Schwarzkopf, Alexandria Hamilton, Samantha Hamilton, Joshua Walters, and Lauren Walters; and three sisters, Tommie D. Kimsey, Nancy Rasnick, and Tisha Waltmon.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 17, at Trinity-First United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m.
