David Richard Lopez

David Richard Lopez, Jr, 67 Peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 13,2014. David was born on March 23,1947 in Longmont, Colorado. He graduated from Austin High School and later got drafted into the United States Army from 1966-1969. He served one year in Vietnam, 1968-1969 and later married the love of his life in 1974, Concepcion F. Lopez. After proudly serving his country he later went back to school and attended the University of Texas at El Paso and graduated in 1974 with a bachelor’s in Business Administration. Upon graduating from UTEP he then attended Park University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Science. David worked for Region XIX Educational Service Center Data Processing Department for more than twenty five years. He later retired from the department of Veterans Affairs following ten years of dedicated service to the Government of the United States of America. His heart was filled with love for the sport of softball as he coached for many years. David was preceded in death by his parents; David and Helen Lopez. He leaves behind his wife of forty-three years Concepcion F. Lopez. Left to cherish his memories are his beautiful children and their families Sheena Lopez, Richard Lopez and wife Isela Lopez, Bernadette Sanchez and husband Daniel Sanchez. Along with his five grandchildren Alexis Calderon, Sebastian Stange, Khloe Sanchez, Maya Sanchez and Allyson Lopez. A memorial service will be held for David R. Lopez on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 5pm-9pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at Sunset funeral home on Hondo Pass. Memorial mass will be held at Holy Trinity church 10000 Pheasant Rd on Wednesday 19, 2014 at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
