David “D-Rod” Rodriguez, age 51,
Left this Earth surrounded by his wife, two Children, and family peacefully at home, Sunday, September 7th, 2025.
A true warrior and fighter for a courageous 4 months, but due to complications arising from Liver and gallbladder carcinoma was too much for his body to handle. Our Dear Lord called him home and welcomed him with open arms.
David was an avid Motorcycle enthusiast, A true genius, and a motorcycle mechanic by trade who formed a tight brotherhood bond with his fellow Border Patrol and Law Enforcement colleagues who shared the same interest and love of riding.
During his 24 years with the United States Border Patrol, he was one of the founding agents of the Del Rio, Texas Sector Horse Patrol, detailed to court prosecutions in Del Rio, TX. Driving Instructor for the United States Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM. Intel division Agent El Paso, TX. As well as a Lead Instructor for Intel trainings in Washington, DC. He retired at the end of December 2024 in El Paso, TX.
After his retirement, he became a full-time Uber dad for his daughter and son, an Assistant Basketball Coach for his son's Basketball team, and a Proud Father supporting his daughter in Basketball and Softball. Loved by his two dogs Ally Mae and Jackie, who he spent quality time walking and playing in the park, accompanied by many snuggles and kisses.
David was truly loved by all, his kindness, compassion, along with his loving smile and pearly whites, made you fall in love with him and just warm you heart. Always willing to lend a helping hand or provide words of encouragement, willing to go above and beyond when needed. Our hearts are broken, and our world is shattered with his passing, but we are truly blessed to have had him in our hearts as a Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Son-in-law, Brother-in-law, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend in his journey and book of life.
David is survived by his loving wife and companion of 25 years, Felicia Frietze-Rodriguez, Daughter Noemi Emma Rodriguez, and son David Isaac Rodriguez. His parents, Robert Sr and Eva Rodriguez, Sisters, Nivia Rodriguez Lucero (Raul) and Gloria Rodriguez. Mother-in-law Emma Lyles Medina of Las Cruces, NM. Sister-in- laws Tina Valencia Guevera, Bea Alvarez (Bobby), Jeni Jimenez, Brother-in-law Donald (Cheri) Frietze, Yvonne (Ruben) Gongalez, Lillian Frietze, Jean Gomez, Eileen (Rudy) Hernandez.
Nieces: Suzanne Clark (Gary, Gary Evan, Marcos), Antonette Hernandez (Andrae), Danielle Renea Hernandez
Valerie Valencia (Fonsito and Breezi), Patricia Valencia (Coy, Katy Sue, James)
Andrea Lucero, Valeria Lucero, Maya Barrera, Nivia Barrera, Julian Barrera. Numerous Family, Friends, and Border Patrol Family.
He is preceded in death by his Brother, Roberto Rodriguez Jr., Abby, and Arthur, his loving 4-legged companions, and his Maternal and Paternal grandparents.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on
Monday, September 15, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Homes-
West with a Holy Rosary to commence at 6:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday,
September 16, 2025, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 930 E. Redd Rd.
