Dean A. Larson, 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. Dean was born in St Paul, Minnesota on May 17, 1932. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army for several years, during which time he met his first wife, Shirley.
Dean, Shirley, and their two daughters originally lived in Carlsbad and later moved to El Paso, where he worked 31 years for Xerox as a senior technician. Although he loved his job, he also loved retirement. After Shirley’s death, he met and married his beloved Beverly in 2000. Since Dean had battled prostate cancer, his doctor thought the couple would have at least 5 years together; Dean was overjoyed that God gave them three times that many!
Dean perfected his skills at woodworking and stained glass. He remained a life-long student dedicated to learning about a multitude of topics and enjoyed sharing that knowledge with others. Dean and Bev loved RVing, playing games with friends,
cruising, and just cherishing all the moments together.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anne Larson; his brother, Dale; and his first wife, Shirley. He leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Beverly; daughters Deborah Yorston and Janet Hahn; sons-in-law William Yorston and Loren Hahn; stepchildren Janet Comer, Don, J.D. and Kevin McElroy; and grandchildren Kristina Munoz, Jennifer, Timothy and Patrick Yorston, and Liza Gunter; and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held for Dean on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home—Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Gathering will be at 10:00, with Funeral Service at 11:00.
