Donald E. White
January 16, 1949 – July 25, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald “Sonny” White, 76, of El Paso, TX, who left us peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025. Donald was born on January 16, 1949, in Pecos, TX, and lived a life full of service, love, and purpose.
A proud graduate of Pecos High School, Donald enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for 24 years. A Vietnam War veteran, he was a courageous soldier whose dedication earned him numerous honors, including the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Meritorious Service Award. His life was a shining example of integrity, bravery, and duty.
Following his military retirement in 1992, Donald continued to serve his country through his work at Lockheed Martin, where he helped build missile systems.
A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and passionate boxing enthusiast, Donald was known for his wit, generosity, and deep love for his family. Of all the roles he played in life, the one he treasured most was being “Papa” to his granddaughter Kennedy Kabariti-White, the light of his life. He spoke often and joyfully about her, and their bond was truly unbreakable.
Above all, Donald was a devoted family man. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Willie Mae White, his brother Charles, and sister Kathy. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce White, his children Derick White (Lana) of Allen, TX, and Nicole White (James) of El Paso, TX, and his cherished granddaughter Kennedy Kabariti-White, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He also leaves behind sisters Barbara Elmore, Ruby Brown, Debra Sauceda, and many nieces and nephews.
Donald will be remembered for his strength, humility, loyalty, and the profound love he shared with his family—especially with his granddaughter, Kennedy, who will carry his legacy forward with grace and pride.
Rest easy, Papa. Your mission is complete, and your memory lives on in all who knew and loved you.
