Donald E. Harkins Jr.

Donald E. Harkins, Jr., 62, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Don was born in Lafayette, Indiana on September 26, 1959. He graduated from Burgess High School and earned two associate degrees in data processing and accounting from El Paso Community College. He retired from Federal service in 2021. Don loved to play fantasy table-top games such as Dungeons and Dragons, travel, and take long walks. Towards the end of his life, he developed a passion for gardening. Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald Harkins, Sr. He never married but leaves behind a loving family including his mother, Genevieve Harkins and three siblings, four nieces and nephews, and four grandnieces and grandnephews. A Visitation was held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 and a Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 PM, Monday, June 6, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home - East, 750 N. Carolina. Interment will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, June 09, 2022 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.
