Eddie Haney Jr.

Eddie Haney Jr., 86, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.

Born on March 23, 1941, in Military Heights, North Little Rock, Arkansas, Eddie—named after his father—was the second of nine children and the oldest son. His early years were marked by hardship, which shaped his resilience and sense of purpose. In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Army, beginning more than 20 years of dedicated service, including a combat tour in Vietnam.

Affectionately known as “Junior” by his family, Eddie was recognized throughout his life for his deep passion for teaching. This calling emerged early during his time as an Army Drill Instructor at the Fort Gordon Army Training Center in Georgia. After retiring from the military, he continued to pour his energy into developing young people, building a long and impactful career as an ROTC instructor in the Fort Bliss area of El Paso.

Eddie possessed a remarkable gift for instruction—a natural instinct inherited from his father. He had an exceptional ability to break down complex procedures into clear, practical methods that inspired confidence in those he taught.

Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Christiane, as well as their daughter, Christiane, and son, Clarke. He is survived by his son, Anthony, and daughter, Ziva.
