Edith Luise Pettipiece passed comfortably at home with her children on the 30th of March 2025. She was 89 years old. Edith was born in Wiesbaden, Germany to parents Walter and Luise Wilhelm. Raised in Wiesbaden she lived through the perils of World War II up to 10 years of age. She was the second eldest of five children. At the age of 21, Edith married US Army soldier Jerry Dean Pettipiece lasting over 65 years. She became an American citizen in 1961. Edith worked at home raising her children and later worked part-time at the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) for many years. Edith loved to spend her spare time crocheting, knitting, and sewing and became very masterful at them all. Edith is survived by three children Jerry (Donna) Pettipiece, Sandra (Kenneth Scherschel) Pettipiece, Debra (David) Salas; sister Christa (Karlheinz) Wanger; as well as 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter. Edith will long be remembered for her strength, independence, generous heart, and her devotion to family.
Visitation will be held for Edith on Friday April 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Homes – Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive followed by funeral services at 1:00 PM. Committal services will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Wilson Ave. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
