Edward A. Sweeney

Edward “Ed” Anthony Sweeney passed away on July 17th, 2013 at the age of 81 in El Paso, TX. He was born December 2nd, 1931 to Edward Sweeney and Lillian (Duffy) Sweeney in Fallriver, MA. Ed was a true patriot and proud American serving in the Army for 25 years. He wrote many training manuals for systems used by the Army and trained countless soldiers as an Instructor on those systems. He received many medals and awards as a soldier and retired at the rank of CWO3 and went on to have a successful career after the military using the skills he learned and applied in the Army. He was an avid reader, had a great love of history, enjoyed discussing politics and was liked by all who met him. Ed is survived by his beloved Helen Sweeney and their sons Edward, Michael and Douglas, their wives, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A time of gathering will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to being prayer at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Ed will be laid to rest at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
