Eliseo “Cecil” Guttierrez
He was born in El Paso, Texas on June 14, 1932, lived his childhood in Newman, Texas. He was educated in a one room school house with his four sisters and one niece. He worked at many ranches since he was 11 years old. He joined the Army, in the infantry, went to England during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.
From 1954-1981 he was a member of the El Paso Fire Department and served as a Fire Marshall. After retiring with the EPFD, he was worked as a deputy with the El Paso Sheriff’s Department.
He had a love of ranching and animals. In the 70’s he built a rodeo arena on his property in what is now known as the Futureland, which is where he called “home”.
He was predeceased by his parents, Juan and Aurelia Gutierrez, his three sisters – Margie, Marie and Carmen, and his first wife, Martha. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret LaFrance Gutierrez, sister-Becky Batt, his son Ernesto (Diane) Gutierrez, three grandsons he loved very much – Matthew, Joshua and Samuel, Stepchildren - Fred Stell-Smith, Margaret (Greg) Stone, Nanette LaFrance, Mary (Allen) Henson, six step grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren with two more on the way, wonderful nieces and great-nieces.

He was a true man of honor and loved his family fiercely.
Visitation will be from 5:00PM-9:00PM with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00PM Thursday, July14, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Scripture Service will begin at 12 noon on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will follow at 1:00PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
