Minna Lusie Elli nee Daubach Raymond, 89, was born in Eppstein, Germany on March 27, 1926 and died at her home in El Paso on December 10, 2015. As a youth, during the Second World War, and it’s aftermath she survived many struggles. During the War, she was drafted by the Germany Army to communications. After the war, by the American Army to work as a waitress for the officer’s mess. Later in Frankfurt, Germany she worked as a key punch operator and telephone operator until in 1952 she met and married an American serviceman, Walter Raymond. Then in America, she worked for a physician in Bristol, Rhode Island and as a data processor at Fort Bliss. More important were her many avocations: music-singing and playing the piano, art- painting and making intricate needle point pictures and cooking- where she excelled in German cuisine. Though she had no children, she had many loves: her husband, Ray, her many friends, her little poodles, and her church Grace Lutheran. Those passing before her were her parents, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her sister Adele and her dog Heidi, her sister and brother-in-law, nephews and nieces and many friends. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Service will begin at 12:30pm on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church. Committal Service will follow at 2:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to Grace Lutheran Church or a church of your choice in honor of Elli’s memory.
