Eric Thomas Metz

Eric T. Metz, 71, passed away on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016. Eric was born in Buffalo, New York on May 31st 1944. He graduated from Frank Parrish High School and shortly after left to serve his country proudly in the United States Army. Eric would later marry the love of his life in 1976, Hortencia. Eric proudly served in the United States Army for 13 years and received an Honorable Discharged in 1978. He loved to fish and was a former member of the Ascarate Fishing Club/ He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed photography. Eric was a compassionate individual; he became a drug counselor as he had great satisfaction in helping rehabilitate former drug addicts. Eric had a passion for philanthropy and service for, not only his community, but all humankind. Eric leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Hortencia Metz; daughter, Virginia Aguirre; son, Erick J. Metz and grandchildren, Korina, Victor Jr., Andrew, Crystal and Erik Jaxon. Memorial Visitation will be from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
