Eric Ignacio Salas

Eric Ignacio Salas, 41, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 8, after battling brain cancer. Eric was born on January 6, 1972 in El Paso, TX where he resided until his passing. He graduated from Coronado High School in 1991. He was the drummer for several local bands including Malign, Tu Edge, Universal Recovered, Thieves of Always and ATTAKS. He was a very talented artist and aspiring chef. Another thing he really enjoyed doing was making his friends laugh. He was deeply loved by many, and will be greatly missed. Eric is survived by his parents Alfredo and Marta Salas, brother Fred Salas Jr., sister Yvette Hernandez, brother in-law Paul Hernandez, and his nieces Samantha and Sabrina Hernandez . He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to UMC doctors, nurses, aids, and social workers, the staff at MD Anderson in Houston, as well as La Mariposa Hospice for the loving care and support they provided throughout Eric’s fight. Viewing will be Monday, August 12 from 5pm-9pm with a memorial service at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home West, 480 N.Resler 79912. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 13 at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 400 W. Sunset 79922 at 10am followed by interment. Pallbearers will be Fred Salas Jr., Paul Hernandez, Isaac Diaz, Brian Ramos, Jacob Jenkins, Greg Sosa, Mike Fierro, Ralph Jasso. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
