Ernest Perry, age 89, entered into the hands of Our Lord and Savior on July 10, 2025. A devoted husband, beloved father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, caring brother, and loyal friend, Ernest will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A proud veteran, Ernest honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years, including service during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Following his military retirement, he continued his dedication to public service, working 27 years with the Department of Defense in Environmental Protection.
Ernest was preceded in death by his loving parents, Mamie Elizabeth and Otis Perry. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Stella Perry; his children: Darius Wayne Perry, Terence Dalny Perry, Wayne Thomas Mitchell, and Shawna Mitchell (Roberto); his grandchildren: Darice Perry, Leticia Santiago, D’Anthony Lardge, Darius Michael Perry (Alexis), Whitney Perry, and Wisdom Mitchell-Wells; and 11 beloved great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dear siblings: Delores Johnson, Leo Price, and Kenneth Johnson, as well as his lifelong friend and “brother from another mother,” Ernesto Robles.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:30 AM at Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler Dr. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, where he will receive Full Air Force Honors.
Ernest Perry’s life was marked by service, love, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be remembered with deep affection and honor. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler Dr.
