Our beloved Mother Esperanza “Espy” Carlos, 83, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on January 30, 1942, in El Paso, TX, to Loretto Saucedo. She was the heart of our family- our beloved matriarch whose home radiated warmth and welcome to all who entered. She taught us the importance of keeping family close, no matter the challenge, and the bond she helped nurture has kept our immediate and extended family and friends connected across generations and across miles. Her joy came from bringing loved ones together, and she created countless memories through celebrations that we will cherish forever. She had a passion for traveling, a love of music and dancing, and a natural talent for art and crafting. Whether decorating her home for every special occasion or creating something beautiful with her hands, she brought creativity and care to everything she touched and was blessed with a green thumb. Her work reflected that same dedication: she was a skilled bootmaker for Larry Mahan and later a self-employed seamstress, designing exquisite wedding gowns and formal attire. Above all, she was a devoted homemaker to her husband of 59 years, Rogelio Carlos Jr., and a loving mother to their seven children and devoted grandmother to her 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Esperanza is preceded in death by her mother, Lorretto Saucedo, her husband, Rogelio Carlos Jr., and her oldest son, Ricardo Thomas Carlos. She is survived by her children Guadalupe Carlos-King, Roberto Carlos and spouse Yvonne Cordova, Christina Carlos-Roberson and spouse J Quint Roberson, Graciela Carlos-Hunt and spouse Daniel M Hunt, Ruben Carlos and spouse Luz Carlos, Rogelio “Roger” Carlos III; her grandchildren Jorge Casares, Krystal King-Alvarez and spouse Dave A Alvarez, Robert Wesley Hunt and spouse Rebecca L Hunt, Lindsey H Hunt, Danielle F Hunt, Diego R Carlos, Camille L Carlos, S Nicole Dominguez and spouse Fabian Alvarado, Levi C Carlos, Angelica R Carlos, Estevan R Carlos, Julian R Carlos, Matthew C Carlos, Derek R Carlos, and Nicolas R Carlos; her great-grandchildren Hailey M Alvarez, Kalleigh L Alvarez, Kyndall L Alvarez, Noah Alvarado, Eliana Alvarado, Ryla L Hunt, Robyn W Hunt, and many more loved ones, and friends.
