Ester M. Cordova

Our beloved mother, Ester M. Cordova, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2016. She was one of 11 children, born on February 10, 1927 in El Paso, TX to Enrique and Maria Felipa Medrano. She graduated from El Paso High School in 1944 and worked for Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Company as a stenographer for 18 years. She was a lifelong devout Catholic, a devoted wife to her husband, and a loving mother to her children. Throughout her life, she was active in her children’s schools’ PTA, in the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, Legion of Mary, and Our Lady of Assumption Church Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Manuel Cordova, and her siblings Elisa Medrano (age 13), Pedro Medrano (age 1), Margarita Claudio, Jose Enrique Medrano and Pedro Medrano. She is survived by her children Ricardo, Sylvia, and Norma Cordova and her brothers Mario and Manuel Medrano, and her sisters Elisa Salas, Petra Medrano, and Maria Estela Valenzuela, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to express their deepest gratitude to Monique Widas, who was her caregiver for the past 8 years and provided our mother with loving care, companionship, and friendship. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8 Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4800 Byron St. Committal Service will follow at 11:30am at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
