Ethel Johnson Wilkerson, 89, departed this life on Saturday, December 13, 2025. She was born in Reidsville, North Carolina, December 25, 1935, the last of five children of Willam M. and Susie Johnson. She attended and graduated from Booker T. High School in Reidsville, N.C. She gave her life to the Lord at the age of 9 where she served as a junior usher and sang with the junior and intermediate choirs at Zion Baptist Church. In 1957, she met and married her hometown sweetheart Jerry Wilkerson. He was in the United State Army and was stationed in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. As a military spouse, she also lived in US Army military bases located in Kansas, Missouri, Germany, and Texas. She worked as a certified, Nurses’ Aide and Dental Assistant. Later in life she worked for AAFES (Army, Air Force Exchange Service) Ft. Bliss, TX, where she retired after twenty years of service.

Mrs. Wilkerson and Rev. Jerry Wilkerson were longtime members of Unity Missionary Baptist Church, where she participated in various organizations within the church. She was an active member of the Interdenominational Ministers Wives and Ministers Widows since the year 1999 and served as the Regional Financial Secretary for many years. At this time, she was a member and the Mother of the Church at Northeast Bible Restoration Church. This is also where she and Reverand Wilkerson had been active with the Children's Educational Fund, and she had also served as Pastors Aide at that time.

Mrs. Ethel J. Wilkerson was a Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Auntie, Friend and a Blessed Woman of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jerry Wilkerson.

Ethel leaves to cherish in her memories: her devoted daughter, Valerie Wilkerson Johnson; two grandchildren, Alan-Michael Johnson, and Khrystal A. Johnson; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and other surrounding and devoted friends.
