Eva Earline (McRae) Delaney was born on November 16, 1952, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to James Franklin McRae Sr. and Annie L. McRae. As a child, Eva was baptized and attended Sunday School and Church services at Chapel Number 4 on Fort Bliss, Texas. Growing up as an Army brat, she had the unique opportunity to travel the world with her family, a lifestyle she embraced with joy and curiosity. Eva graduated from Burgess High School in El Paso, Texas, in 1971. While living in Germany, Eva experienced one of her greatest joys: the birth of her beloved daughter, Damitra (Simmons) Stuart. Eva had a strong work ethic and a long, diverse career. She began her working life as a babysitter and went on to hold positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Company, Daniels Moving and Storage, Bekins Van Lines, and the El Paso Independent School District. Her work with EPISD included time at Irvin High School, but it was at Travis Elementary School where she found her true calling. Eva retired as the School Secretary, but her impact went far beyond the front office. She had a special love for the children at Travis and ensured that every student received a Build-A-Bear stuffed animal each Christmas, a tradition that brought joy to countless young lives. Eva was preceded in death by her father, James Franklin McRae Sr.; her brother, James Franklin McRae Jr.; her brother-in-law, Anthony DeRamus; and her son-in-law, Toby Stuart. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving husband, Gary Delaney and her devoted mother, Annie L. McRae, both of El Paso, TX. Her daughter, Damitra Stuart of Duluth, GA. Her sister, Doris DeRamus of El Paso, TX. Her bonus grandson, Johnam Smith of Riverdale, GA. Her stepson, Walter (Sheri) Simmons of El Paso, TX. Her Nephews, Robert (Trinity) Agins of Tampa, FL, and Aaron (Leandra) Agins of El Paso, TX., Gary Jenkins of MD, Devon Brown, Nieces: Lashanda Green and Cherish Delaney all El Paso TX. A host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts Eva will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and the joy she spread throughout her life. She was a woman of warmth, strength, and unwavering love. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
