Floyd Hamilton "Trey" Hancock,

Floyd Hamilton (“Trey”) Hancock, III, 47. Trey was born March 7, 1966 in Lubbock, TX to Floyd, Jr. and JoAlice Hancock. He grew up in Houston, TX, and was graduated from Spring Woods High School in 1984. After graduation from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988, he went to Peru as a missionary with the Baptist Foreign Mission Board from 1989-1991. After returning from Peru, Trey decided upon Physical Therapy as his career. While completing prerequisites, he attended the Fellowship of Las Colinas church in Irving, TX where he met his future wife, Amy. Trey and Amy were married on July 16, 1994, and two days later, relocated to El Paso, TX, where he attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston’s Physical Therapy School at UTEP, graduating with a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 1996. Upon graduation, he worked at various PT jobs in El Paso before opening his own clinic, Alta Mesa Physical Therapy, on June 1, 2012. He enjoyed a very successful year in his first, and final, year of business. He truly cared for each of his patients as individuals and was an outstanding boss and mentor. Trey’s passions were Jesus, his family, the outdoors and helping others. He enjoyed swimming, golf, and competing in triathlons. He was a patient, humble, and loyal friend, a loving son, brother, and uncle, and always honored his family. Trey and Amy have two children: Joshua Kyle, 15, and Katherine Jo, 12. He was an amazing father, investing personally in both children in so many unique and special ways. He enjoyed activities with his son’s Scout troop, taking his daughter on dates, camping, and playing tennis with his family. Josh and Katie reflect their earthy dad and their heavenly father in their personal faiths and Christian witness. Trey loved Amy wholeheartedly and sacrificially. He believed she was the perfect and only one for him. Trey and Amy enjoyed 19 years of a marriage focused and grounded in Christ before his untimely death in a bicycle accident on August 17, 2013. Trey is survived by Amy, Josh, and Katie, as well as his parents of Kerrville, sister and family Melinda, Mason, and Miles Beall of Ft. Worth. He is also survived by his grandmother, Daphne Blanton of Lampasas and many uncles, aunts and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either a fund that has been set up for Josh and Katie (Trey Hancock Memorial Fund at WestStar Bank, 425 E. Redd Road, El Paso, TX 79912) or the El Paso Rescue Mission (in honor of Trey Hancock), or a charity of your choice. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 22 at 11am at Coronado Baptist Church. All are welcome. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
