Francisco Avila Sr. (Peanut), 79, went home to meet his Creator August 29, 2014. He was a long life resident of El Paso, proud graduate and alumni of Bowie High School class of 1954. He was a Korean War veteran, attended TransWestern College, and retired from White Sands Missile Range after 31 years. He was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Socorro A. Avila. He is survived by his six children Liz Avila, Francisco Avila Jr., Roberto Avila, Beatrize Carr, Esther Villarreal, and Manual Avila and 10 grandchildren. In lieu of the flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Choice Hospice of Texas. We praise our Lord for the blessing of a father who loved his family, friends, neighbors, and country. He showed his devotion to his children and grandchildren by remembering all our special days and accomplishments by sending personal cards. He impacted all the lives he touched with simple deeds of kindness. Visitation is from 5:00pm -9:00pm Wednesday, September 3, 2014 with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Sunset Funeral Homes Northeast. Funeral Mass is at 10:00am Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at 11:00am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
