Francisco José González

Francisco José González (Pancho), 81, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021. He was born a twin in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, México on October 9, 1939. He immigrated to the U.S. with his family in the early 1940’s and lived in El Paso, Texas all his life. He graduated from El Paso High School, then served his country in the United States Army. He married Angelina Retana in 1965 with whom he had six loving children. He worked as an electrician for UTEP and retired after 20 years. He loved music, was an avid reader, and well versed in historical events. A proud and supportive father/grandfather who enjoyed sharing stories of his children’s accomplishments. Francisco was a kind and generous man, willing to help others in their time of need. He appreciated social gatherings and valued family time, such as Thanksgiving parades and Superbowl parties. Francisco is preceded in death by his parents, Emigdio and Esperanza González and his siblings: Rogelio, José, Arturo, Enrique, Armando, Graciela Delgado (twin), Bertha, María Luisa Hernandez, Hugo, Carmen Spencer, Martha. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Angelina Retana, Sons: Francisco J. González and Sergio D. González (Teresa González); Daughters: Angélica González (Manuel Hermosillo), Bertha Leticia González (Efrain Hernandez), Lorena González-Juarez (Victor Juarez), and Claudia González (David Jarquin); Grandchildren: Christopher S. González (Tiffany González), Yadira A. Hermosillo, Montserrat L. Juarez, Aaron I. Juarez, Adan D. Hernandez, Omar I. Juarez, Bianca Y. González, Camila R. Jarquin; Great grandchildren: Isabella R., Ilana J., Iyla N., and Romeo J. González; Brothers: Luis González and Emigdio González, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Vigil/Rosary at 6:00 PM, Monday, August 30, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana. Committal Service will follow at 1:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
