On April 1, 2026 loving husband, father, and grandfather, Francisco Silva passed away at the age of 85. He was born on June 3, 1940, in El Paso, Texas. Francisco was a graduate of Burges High School and the University of Texas at El Paso. He worked at Lerner Shops for 30 years, then did the unthinkable, he went back to college at 50. This journey landed him as a second-grade teacher at Coldwell Elementary school for 17 years, officially retiring at 72 years old. Although retail taught him how to work, teaching made him a mentor to many young girls and boys. Francisco was a kind and giving man, making sure that his family was taken care of. From waking up early to clear all windshields from frost and snow, to traveling far and wide rescuing his wife, daughters, and friends from various automotive emergencies. A man whose intelligence matched his wit, he was always interesting to talk to. He was a devoted family man, ready to help people in any way he could. He loved refurbishing vintage cars, fixing things around the house, listening to classical music, and gardening. His true love; however, was his wife Yolanda, who he missed dearly. Francisco is survived by his daughters Noemi Y. Vargas, Magda Y. Silva, Yolanda Silva, Armida Merritt (Paul), grandsons Adam, Matthew, Zachary. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Yolanda, sister Dolores Shaw, and brother Rafael Silva. The family would like to give a special thank you to Remarkable Hospice, Frances Silva, Mark Silva, Jerry Trujillo, Vanessa Gomez, and Lorena Silva-Edwards. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Friday, April 17, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will held at 8:00 am Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N Clark Dr, El Paso, Tx 79905 with a Interment will follow at 10:00 am, at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to El Paso Fighting Hunger Food Bank.
