Francisco Vega Jr., 60, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016.
Frank was born in El Paso, TX on July 9, 1955. He graduated from Irvin High School in 1973 and left eagerly ready to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, in the 5 years earning several medals, awards, and Sailor of the Month and Quarter aboard the USS Niagara Falls. Frank later married the love of his life in 1983, Rosa.
Frank worked for the W.S.M.R. Fire Department for 35 years and retired from Asst. Fire Chief in 2011. He loved to coach baseball and play softball, and he won numerous championships while travelling around the country.
Frank is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rosa Vega; son Dominique Vega and wife Monica Vega; daughter Roxanna Vela and husband Luis Vela; parents Francisco Vega and Aurora Vega; brothers David Vega, Daniel Vega, Jimmy Vega, and Mario Vega; sisters Margie Davis, Annie Butcher, and Alice Dagenhart; grandsons Ethan Orihuela and Sebastian Vega; granddaughters Leila Orihuela and Sofia Vega; and by an extensive list of life-long friends and family.
Visitation will be held 5-9PM including Vigil/Rosary at 7:00PM on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast 4631 Hondo Pass, 79904. Funeral Mass will be said at 09:15AM on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church 10000 Pheasant, 79924. Burial will follow at 10:30AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military and Fire Department Honors.
