CSM (Command Sergeant Major) US Army Retired Gary D. French, 74, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home, following a long fought battle with cancer.
Gary’s life was dedicated to his family, Military Service to his country and Civil Service of which he also retired. His Military Service included several distinguished awards some of which include the highest award; the Army Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals, and four Air Medals. His lifelong world-wide friends he met during his military and civilian service, of which he kept in touch with for all those years have been a constant in-touch presence throughout his illness, as have close family, friends and neighbors. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners fan. His Siberian Huskies, Comanche and Nala were his loyal t.v. companions. His other Siberian Huskies, Storm and Gemini preceded him in death and will be interred with him. Gary was preceded in death by his son Gary Dale Jr., his parents Dewitt T. French and Barbara Pauline French of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He leaves his wife of fifty years Joyce Lambert-French, sons; Sean T. French of Copperas Cove, TX, Shane T. French of Los Almos, NM, and daughter; Charrey D. French-Schiele of Clermont, FL, granddaughters; Casey Arianna Schiele, Skylynne Ashley Schiele, Erynn Danielle Schielle, Jordan Mackenzie Schiele of Clermont, FL, and Tia Lee French of Copperas Cove, TX. Sister: Paula Jean French-Mihelcic of Santa Fe, NM. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Prayer Service will begin at 7 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will be at a later time at Arlington National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
