Gilbert Leija Jr., 53, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 13, 2026. He was a wonderful son, brother, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
We remember and honor a life that was anything but easy, yet deeply meaningful in ways that truly matter.
Gilbert lived a life marked by hardship, struggle, and moments that would have broken many. The road was not always straight, and there were seasons filled with pain, mistakes, and difficult choices. But through it all, one thing remained steady—his faith in Jesus Christ.
Gilbert knew what it meant to fall, but also what it meant to get back up. He carried burdens that weren’t always visible and fought battles that few understood. Yet in the midst of life’s storms, he found grace, redemption, and hope in the love of the Lord.
Those who knew Gilbert saw not just the struggles, but the heart behind them—a heart capable of love, compassion, and faith. He may not have been perfect, but he was real, and his journey is a testament to the power of forgiveness and second chances.
In his later days, Gilbert held tightly to the promise that no life is beyond redemption. He found peace in knowing that Jesus walks with us through every valley and welcomes us home with open arms.
Gilbert is survived by his loving parents, Gilbert and Irene Leija and Rosa Leija and Sammy Lujan, his beloved sons, Kristian Gilbert Leija and Julien Gilbert Leija, his siblings, Rachael Leija Florez, David Garza, Nicolas Leija, Sabrina Robledo, Jordan Leija, Andrew Leija, and Adrian Leija, and 4 grandchildren, Rosalinda Sariya Leija, Rozalie Mariya Leija, Adrian Giovanni Leija and Abri Grace Leija, who will remember him not just for the struggles, but for the strength it took to keep going and the faith that never let go. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends to cherish and honor his memory.
Though his life was rough, his ending is one of peace. We take comfort in knowing that Gilbert is now resting in the presence of the Savior he believed in.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
Gilbert will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
