Guadalupe (Lupe) Manuela Gulledge

January 2, 1954 — August 31, 2015

GUADALUPE (LUPE) MANUELA GULLEDGE Guadalupe (Lupe) Manuela Gulledge went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 31, 2015. She left our world surrounded by her cherished family and dearest friends. Lupe was born on January 2, 1954 in El Paso, TX to Juan (Flattop) and Lorenza (Lencha) Sarmiento. The 3rd of 7 children, she was raised in El Paso, TX. Lupe was an extremely proud lifelong El Pasoan and Bowie Bear who loved her parents, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family and closest friends. She was extremely caring, compassionate and friendly. It was always said that she never met a stranger and inclusion into her extended family was only a conversation away. Lupe met her ideal life partner and best friend, Gary Gulledge, in 1984. After their marriage in 1987, Lupe traveled outside of her cherished El Paso roots as a proud military wife through Germany and Washington State. Without her preferred method of travel, the Sun Metro, she was still able to explore and live her life adventures with family and friends only a phone call away. An avid gardener, she enjoyed taming her indoor jungle and enjoyed spending days with her “Bluey,” collecting anything turtle related and staying connected with her family and friends. In honor of her family’s and husband’s military service, she was a proud member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was strong in her faith and enjoyed weekly services at Blended Nation Fellowship. Lupe was proceeded in death by her parents Juan and Lorenza Sarmiento and her brother Gilberto (Chivi) Sarmiento. She is survived by her husband, Gary E. Gulledge; sons and daughters Jerry (Kathy) Rangel, Albert (Amanda) Juarez Jr., Eric (Cristina) Juarez, Mark Nunez, and Nena Serrano; grandchildren, Jerry Jr., Desiree, Sybil, Yesenia, Diego, Adrian, Luis “Steve” Castro, Emililouise, Jillianrose, Tony, and Alex; siblings, Pedro (Estela) Mendoza, Daniel (Amanda) Mendoza, Juan (Ofelia) Sarmiento Jr, Ruben (Laura) Sarmiento, Teresa Sarmiento, and Lavetta Holloran; mother figure and best friend Lucy Ortega, and lifelong family caretaker Irma Munoz. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all her wonderful medical professionals including Dr. Harvey Greenberg, Dr. Barbara Reeves, additional heartfelt gratitude to Laura Sarmiento, Jim Paul, and all the nurses and caregivers of Hospice El Paso. In lieu of flowers, donations to Center for Compassionate Care - West, 1575 Belvidere, El Paso, TX 79912 would be appreciated. Committal Service will be Friday, September 4, 10:30 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Funeral procession will begin at 10 AM at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Please visit our online register book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
