Guadalupe A. Salas passed away peacefully October 11, 2013. Guadalupe was a loving mother to nine children, Armando, Ernesto +, Hector, Zelma, Irma, Leticia, Rosa, Roberto, and Guadalupe, and was known as Amá by Veronica. A grandmother to twelve grandchildren, Raymond, Julian, Kathrina, Consuelo, Angelica, Diego, Jonathan, Ilean, Christopher, Marcus, Ronnie and Ryan, and a great grandmother to nine great-grandchildren Janessa, Sienna, Cedes, Nathaniel, Mason, Andrew, Luke, Mia, and Mateo, as well as aunt to numerous nephews and nieces and their families. Mom lived a life full of love and laughter from her large family. While Mom’s love and influence will be long lived, her presence will eternally be missed. Having her family over on Sunday afternoons as well as on Thanksgiving and Christmas were traditions that brought joy to Mom. These moments are where cherished memories were made. Her infamous pinching of her grandchildren’s checks will be longed for. The smell of rice and beans lingering in the kitchen, “Rice Pudding” cooking on the stove on Fall and Winter nights, and pitchers of immensely sweet Kool–Aid on summer afternoons are marks of her love that will forever be missed. Mom loved her family, and was ever the more joyous upon the arrival of a new addition. Mom, Grandma, Amá, was a kind and loving person who eternally loved her family. She will be eternally loved by her family. Guadalupe is preceded in death by her parents Amelia and Enrique Arriola, sister Aurora and brother Enrique, and infant son Ernesto Salas. She is survived by her brothers Francisco Arriola (Hortencia), Roberto Arriola (Sylvia), and sister Rosa Valdez. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 16 from 4 – 9 PM, with the Rosary at 7 PM at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held on October 17, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Cathedral . Interment will be private.
