Gustavo Bustamante Jr. (Tavichie), 84, born August 23, 1931 to Gustavo and Socorro Bustamante. He passed away Friday, February 26, 2016. He was a graduate of El Paso Tech and attended the college of Mines. He proudly served in the Korean War. He was a devout Catholic who never missed mass even if he had to watch it on T.V. He was a craftsman and jack of all trades. He was always there for anyone who needed help. He would include nieces and nephews on family vacations.
He was a devoted El Paso business owner of his trade for 46 years, who continually donated to his community. After learning his trade he was later employed by Asarco here in El Paso. He married Leonor Justiniani and moved to Los Alamos, NM where he was employed by the Zia Co. He then returned to El Paso to help start and later become owner of his business.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Gustavo and Socorro Bustamante, his brother; Alex Bustamante and grandson; Daniel Nicolas Mendoza. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Leonor Bustamante; daughters, Ruth Mendoza (Victor), Monica Bustamante, Eugenia Duggan (Raymond); sons, Gustavo Bustamante and Patrick Bustmante (Veronica); grandchildren, Victor Mendoza Jr., Veronica Mendoza, Derek Bustamante, Shelby Bustamante, and Justinian Bustamante; sisters, Socorro ( Tita) Arriola, Nena Vargas and Tere Bustamante.
Pallbearers: Patrick Bustamante, Derek Bustamante, Victor Mendoza Jr., Orlando Arriola, Alex Bustamante, Antonio Arriola and Arthur VanHaslen.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 12 noon on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
