Harold Thomas Stone “Pop’s” (89), was called home December 8th, 2015. Born in Los Angeles, CA, January 27th, 1926 to the late Harold Jay and Evelyn Stone. Harold joined the military October 1st, 1943. He served in the US Navy as well as the US Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic and was Honorably Discharged in 1952. He was awarded the Victory Medal WW II and the Asiatic-Pacific Area American Area. Harold was a member of the Fraternity Lodge No 1111, and a Life Member of DAV Borderland Chapter #10. Harold was a firm believer in Christ. He is preceded in death by his late wife Lois Stone, his brothers Kenneth Stone and Fredrick Stone, and his sister Virginia Wilson. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Mary Smith and Ellen Herman and her husband Bob Herman. Wendy and Ginny, and several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends. His extended family Kimberly Yeomans and her husband Tyron Taylor, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Harold loved his El Paso VA and his WBAMC family….he didn’t miss a day of trying to add a smile to someone’s face. He will be remembered for many things, but oh how he loved to deliver popcorn all over the two facilities. We would like to thank the “STAFF” at the Ambrosio Guillen, Texas State Veterans Home for caring for him during his stay, and his heartfelt send off. You are all wonderful people. He will always be remembered there by his nickname “The King”, and he was treated like royalty. Harold once said,” I may not have led the life people wanted me to, but I led the one I wanted to”…his final words to all “I love you”.
