Hector Xavier Rodriguez

July 27, 1958 — August 23, 2025

El Paso

Hector Xavier Rodriguez Sr. of El Paso, Texas passed away on Saturday August 23, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family very much.

Born in El Paso, Hector attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Cathedral High School and Thomas Jefferson High School. He proudly served his country and retired after 22 years in the United States Army.

After his service, Hector worked and retired from Union Pacific Railroad, where he enjoyed working alongside his only son Hector Jr. and one of his brothers, Roddy. His hard work, loyalty and dedication were visible in everything he did.

He enjoyed spending time with his family the most. He enjoyed going fishing, camping and off-roading. His family loved his grilling skills, especially his barbeque ribs. Those who really knew Hector Sr., knew he was a gentle giant. He was kind, gentle and loving and would usually give you a kiss on the head because he was so tall.

Hector is survived by his loving wife, Raquel Rodriguez; his son Hector Xavier Rodriguez Jr; his three grandchildren Ashley Nicole Madrid (Gabriel), Isac Xavier Rodriguez, Makayla Rebekah Rodriguez; his two great grandchildren Alayna De La Mora, and Gianna De La Mora; and his daughter in law Jenny Rodriguez.

He was one of 12 children preceded in death by his parents Isac Ricardo Rodriguez and Alicia M. Rodriguez. Surviving siblings are Noemi Pacheco (Pinny), Patricia Marple (Robert), Helen Huie, Richard Isac Rodriguez (Patricia), Roddy A. Rodriguez (Ilean), Ruben O. Rodriguez (Donna), Theresa B. Rodriguez, Melissa A. Mier (Ruben), Grace G. Rodriguez, Gary E. Rodriguez (Jason) and Samuel D. Rodriguez (Lorraine).

Hector was married to the love of his life Rachel for 48 years. They created a beautiful home and close-knit family. He will be greatly missed, and we will cherish all the wonderful memories he created.
