Herman Adams, age 83, passed away on January 19, 2023, in El Paso, Texas. He spent his childhood in the small town of Neeses, South Carolina before taking a leap and moving to New York City alone as a teenager. That move soon led to a notable military career of 24 years and the decision to retire in El Paso, Texas, his adopted home, followed by 25 years with the US Postal Service. He found himself with very little free time as he took on numerous volunteer roles in the community and when his daughter was in school, never missing a performance or competition. Herman is survived by his loving wife, of 60 years, Christine Adams, who he met while stationed in Germany, daughter, Fancy Adams, her husband Hector Garcia, Son-in-Law Wayne Thornton, grandchildren, Addison Adams-Payan, Dustin Thornton, and Embesy Bell, two great-grandchildren, Kamrynn Thornton and Kendal Thornton, his loyal dog, Rico, and onery cat, Joey. His closest friends include Leonard and Patricia Bailey, Ladislao “Junior” Vicencio, Mark Beatrice, Joseph Gabriel, Robert Elder, and Alton Gardner. Over the years his friendships also came from US Army Veterans, the US Postal Service, El Paso Lion’s Club Members, and the Greater El Paso Boxing Community who will all treasure his memory and distinguished service. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 with a funeral service to follow at 6:00pm at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.
