Herta Berta Clara Kemp

Loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, Herta Kemp, age 86, passed away on August 21, 2025, at Sierra Hospital in El Paso, TX. She was born on February 3, 1939, to August and Emma Giselmann in Soltnitz Pommern Germany. She married Hardy Kemp Jr. on November 19, 1960. Hardy preceded Herta in death on February 22, 2023. She is survived by her son Steve and daughter-in-law Monica, daughter Rita and son-in-law Mike, grandson Ryan and granddaughter-in-law- law Danielle, and grandson Chance. She has a sister, Helga Grisgsby, nephews, and nieces who are grieving for her as well. She was a long-time attendee of Center Chapel One on Fort Bliss.

She attended El Paso Community College, where she attained an Associate of Arts in Education. She continued her education at UTEP, where she attained a Bachelor of Arts degree. She loved learning new things and helping others whenever possible.

Herta loved to read, spend time in her garden, be with friends and family, and travel. Family vacations brought lots of joy, happiness, and some laughter. The roses in the yard were gorgeous every year. She made delicious cakes to share with friends and family. Her children and grandchildren were doted on and cherished.

Herta was very loved by her family and many friends. She will be greatly missed. We will all meet again soon!

A viewing will be held from 12:00 to 4:0 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. She will be interred with her husband at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to Villa Lobos Rescue Center.
