Ignacio Espinosa was called to heaven on January 7th, 2025, at the age of 94. He is preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe Alvarado and Rudolfo Espinosa, siblings Angel Espinosa, Cano Espinosa, Rudolfo Espinosa, Julia Bencomo, Guadalupe Villegas, Herminia Espinosa, Calistra Esquivel, Baby Blanca Espinosa and his wife of 60 years, Maria Teresa Espinosa. He is survived by his companion of 17 years, Maria Gonzalez, his niece, Maria Juanita Enriquez, and countless nieces and nephews who revered him as a father figure. Ignacio leaves behind a remarkable legacy that includes his military service in the army. In recognition of his heroic actions as a demolition specialist and mine sweeper, he was awarded the Bronze Star by President Dwight Eisenhower during the Korean War. Ignacio was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, known for his unwavering support and enthusiasm for the team. He proudly wore his Tom Landry fedora hat and could often be found cheering on his beloved Cowboys. Nacho was a familiar face at the Grandview Senior Center, where he enjoyed playing pool and socializing with friends. His competitive spirit and friendly demeanor made him a popular member of the community. Our beloved Tio Nacho will be profoundly missed, and although he is gone, His immense kindness and generosity, unwavering devotion to family and friends, and vibrant zest for life are the cherished traditions that will endure in spirit and be proudly carried forward by future generations.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 6:00pm on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama St. Committal Service to follow at 1:30pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at FOrt Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
