Ima Mae McAleer

October 18, 1934 — June 24, 2025

El Paso

It is with heavy hearts and sadness we announce the passing of our mother, beloved grandmother and great grandmother, Ima Mae McAleer. She left this world peacefully on June 24, 2025 at the age of 90.

Born Ima Mae Demic October 18, 1934 in Albuquerque, NM. She married John Kenneth McAleer February 9, 1953 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in El Paso, Texas. They were married for over 57 years and had three sons.

She spent many years with Bauman Advertising Company until she retired. Once retired she loved spending time in the kitchen baking with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Those times were precious to her. Ima's chocolate chip cookie recipe will be cherished and is a family favorite. Her recipe will be passed down for generations to come.

She loved to travel! She once traveled to San Diego, where she boarded a yacht and traveled to Isla Magdalena, Cabo San Lucas and ended her trip in La Paz. She spent her weekends camping and boating with family and friends at Elephant Butte Lake. Her travels included the Redwood National Forest and Yellowstone National Park. Ima would spend her summers fishing in Colorado, she loved to fish! Her other passion was collecting gems and geodes. She cut geodes open to reveal their beauty.

Though her earthly travels have ended, her spirit lives in every ripple of water, every stone she held and every memory shared lives on by those who loved her.

Ima is survived by her two sons John Kenneth II, wife Cynthia of Marysville, CA, Daniel Patrick, wife Karen of El Paso, TX, six grandchildren (Jessica, Patrick, Christina, Kenneth, Barbara, Elizabeth) and fourteen great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

She is reunited in peace with her husband John Kenneth McAleer, father, Joe M. Demic, mother, Mamie Mae Craig and son Stephen Michael McAleer.
