Carlene was born on April 27, 1932, in Post, Texas, and later moved with her family to Clovis, New Mexico. The youngest of three girls and big sister to her brother Don, Carlene grew up in a musical family. She and her sisters sang as a trio on the local radio station, and Carlene carried that love of music and fun throughout her life. She was a baton twirler, loved to roller-skate, and it was at the roller rink that she met the love of her life, Billie James Moore.
Carlene and Bill married as high school sweethearts and eventually made El Paso their home, where they raised their daughters, Vickie and Vanessa. Together, they built a full life centered on family, hard work, friendship, and community. They also operated a photography business for many years, photographing weddings, special occasions, and Eastwood High School events well into the 1990s.
Carlene was known for her strong personality, generous heart, and wonderful sense of hospitality. She loved gathering friends for lively games of dominoes and bringing family together around the table. Her Wednesday family dinners became a cherished tradition, and her homemade bread and German chocolate cake were family favorites.
Above all, Carlene was a devoted Christian whose faith guided her throughout her life. She loved attending Scotsdale Baptist Church with her family and found great comfort in knowing that this life was not the end. In her later years, she looked forward to going home to be with Jesus.
Carlene lived 94 years filled with music, laughter, trials, family, friendship, faith, and love. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Janelle, Loretta, and Don; her husband, Bill; her daughter, Vickie; and her grandson, Brandon.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa; her grandchildren, Jeannette, Joanna, and CJ; her great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Audrey, Charlie, Emily, Adelynn, and Olivia—many family members and friends who loved her dearly.
We will miss her every day, but we are grateful for the life she lived, the memories she gave us, and the faith she passed on.
Until we see you again, Mom.
