Ira Tillman Jordan age 77 died on April 4, 2015 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Jordan told many tall tales but lived a life that could have been a tall tale itself. He was born on July 20, 1937 in Buckatunna, Mississippi to Earnest and Alois Jordan. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and from the protection of a dirt mound watched some of the first atomic bomb testing at a Nevada proving ground in the 1950s. He was a local contactor and the go to guy for many friends who needed an all-around handyman. Mr. Jordan was a 32nd degree Mason from lodge 1111.
He is predeceased by his parents and siblings John Earnest, Fred Tessly, LaNeta Francis Walker and his children Ray Anthony and Rosslyn Arleen Araiza.
His story was made richer and deeper by his family. He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Molly Torrez Jordan and three children Kim Alcantar (Joe), Mark (Theresa) and Myra Breck (Ben). He was the best Granddad to 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brother Jerry Turner Jordan (Rose), his best great aunt Sadie Swall, many loved nieces, nephews and in-laws, his adopted family in Sena, NM the Agulairs, and friends and neighbors much loved but too numerous to name. Thank you dear friends Dr. Robert and DeDe Tolleen and Carol West Lawrence and husband Ken for your friendship and love in the fun early days and these last hard years. We appreciate you.
Our stories have all been made a little richer, a little taller, and more full of life, from having known him and been loved by him.
