Irene Belfi

Geneva Irene Groves Belfi passed from this life into the presence of Jesus Christ on September 29, 2013 at the age of 99. She was born on September 17, 1914, in Clay County, Texas, to George and Gussie Groves and grew up in the small town of Petrolia, Texas. After graduating from high school there as the valedictorian she married George Belfi in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps (later the U.S. Air Force) during World War II, including assignments in the Pacific theater. She was primarily a housewife and mother, but also worked on the administrative staff of the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a devoted Christian throughout her life and member of a Baptist Church wherever she was living, including the First Baptist Church of El Paso. She moved to Fort Worth in 2004 following the death of her husband. She was preceded in death by her brother Gerald Groves, her sister Gwen Hickman and her husband George Belfi. She is survived by her son Victor Belfi of Fort Worth, Texas, three grandchildren: Chris Belfi of Houston, Texas, Peter Belfi of Fort Worth, Texas, Katherine Jackson of Bryan, Texas, and six great-grandchildren. A Committal Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northest.
