Irma Acosta Herrera (81), passed away on September 12, 2024, after several weeks of carrying her cross of pain and suffering due to medical conditions. She was born on October 9, 1942, in El Paso, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claro and Maria Acosta, sisters Herminia, Hortencia, Zulema, Blanca, Patricia and brothers Ruben, Carlos, Guillermo and Claro Jr.

‍Irma married Antonio (Tony) Herrera on April 6, 1968, and celebrated their 56th anniversary earlier this year. A loving and devoted mother, to Antonio Jr. (wife Stacey), Martin (wife Sheila), Chris (wife Grace) and a cherished grandmother to Sonia, Alec R., Madeira, Milana, Rebecca, Ashely, Brianna, Alexus, Jacinda, Xavier, Alec D., Sophia, Cherie, Donovan, Baleigh, Christopher Jr., Adeleida, Pamela, Claudia and Adan. Great-grandmother to Joshua, Johnny Ray, Annalyse, Aryanna, Gabriel, Grayson, Isaiah, April and Sebastian. Irma is survived by sisters Esperanza Murillo of El Paso and Rosa Roy of Corona, CA.

Irma lived her life as a disciple of Christ, devoted to prayer, with a deep faith and profound love for God. She found solace and community at Christ the Savior Catholic Church, where she volunteered her time and talent as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Catholic lay organization inspired by Gospel values offering person-to-person service to neighbors in need.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM with a Rosary to begin at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home (Northeast), 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral mass will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Christ the Savior Catholic Church, 5301 Wadsworth Avenue. Following the mass, burial will take place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions in her memory be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Christ the Savior Catholic Church (https://giving.servantkeeper.com/ctsep)
