James “Jim” Robert Boggs, age 62, passed away suddenly on September 24 after a short battle with cancer. Jim was the son of Joseph and Willa Jean Boggs. He graduated from Coronado, then Arizona State University. He played basketball for the Sun Devils and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.
In July 1990, Jim married Gayle Lowry, and began his journey as the world’s best stepfather to Seth and Sarah. He was a residential appraiser who loved being able to provide for his family, and often for many others. Countless stories exist of those whom he mentored and stepped in as a “dad.” Singing for UPC Choir and Praise Band and the Bruce Nehring Consort was his passion. Jim gave his opinion freely, was an awesome fixer of all things, and a true blessing to all lucky enough to know him. He truly knew God by faith, and now he knows Him by sight. Jim’s presence was a gift. He was his family’s miracle, and his loss is felt in immeasurable ways.
Jim is survived by his wife, Gayle Boggs, children Seth James and Sarah James, sister Barbara Judkins and husband David, grandson’s Nicholas and Andrew and their mother Terry James, Goddaughter Naomi James, countless family and friends, as well as his puppies Alex and Wally and many turtles. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, David Boggs.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at University Presbyterian Church, 244 N. Resler.
Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
