James Vernon Gorman

January 27, 1930 — December 20, 2014

James V. (Jim) Gorman In loving memory, Jim passed away on Saturday, Decemeber 20th, 2014. He was born January 27th, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio to Roy and Margaret Gorman. He came to El Paso in 1955 was hired and retired from White Sands Missile Range, then became an electronics instructor at Irvin High School where he retired again in 1989. Jim could fix anything electronically, and he loved to tinker in his workshop. He loved to build things too. Jim was a proud 32nd degree Mason. He loved country music, and loved to sing and dance . Most of all, he loved his family! He enjoyed time with his friends at Wellington Chew senior center. He then moved to the Ambrosio Guillen Veterans Home where Jim made many friends, and everyone knew him by his “Black Cowboy Hat!” He loved telling jokes, and had a great sense of humor. Jim was a devoted Family man. He was always looking to see where he could help others. He was a great source of inspiration to his family, and touched many lives. Jim is survived by his wife, Rose, to whom he was married for 56 years. His children; Michele and her husband Richard Nevins of El Paso, Michael and his wife Wendy of San Antonio, and Jennifer and her husband Ken Wade of El Paso. His grandchildren Jim Gorman, Taylor Gorman, Celina Wade, and Jacob Wade. His brothers Tommy (and Phyllis) Gorman of Dayton, Ohio and Dick (and Dot) Randall of Edgewood, Maryland, and many nieces and nephews. Dad you are our hero. We love you and you will always be in our hearts! His family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Salvation Army and Humane Society. Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00PM Saturday, December 27th. A warm send off service will be at 5:00PM. We welcome family and friends to share stories and memories with us at that time. Committal Service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetry at 2:30PM Monday, December 29th, 2014.
