Jennifer Lynn Wright "Herfie" "Boo"

October 1, 1955 — May 27, 2024

El Paso

Jennifer Lynn Wright was born October 1st, 1955 in Rupert, Idaho, 16 minutes before her twin and lifelong best friend, Janet Lee. Her parents would ultimately have 6 children. The twins were known for their bond and natural athleticism and excelled in softball and other team sports, always refusing to be separated. The family moved often, and the girls were known all over The Magic Valley for their “double trouble”. They moved before high school graduation to Owensboro, Kentucky where they worked in Aunt Gertie’s restaurant and bar. When they were 16 they went to work in a cigar factory, rolling cigars.

The twins enrolled in the United States Army together, earning their GEDs. Janet left the Army to raise her family while Jennifer became a career soldier. She served for 20 years and was a 1SG at retirement. She participated in Operation Just Cause (Invasion of Panama 1989 - 1990), Operation Desert Shield, and Operation Desert Storm (Gulf War 1990 – 1991). Her military and civilian career centered on Ammunition Storage and Distribution. Upon retirement she moved to Los Angeles, CA, Fort Bliss, TX, and Huntsville, Alabama, joining Jennie, who was still in the military. They returned to El Paso in 2002 where she became the Supervisor of Ammunition for McGregor Range. She retired in 2012.

Jennifer loved her many friends, including her “Best Pal, Wievie”, poker parties, pool parties, golf, Coors Light, her pups Rylie Jo and Harper Rose, and most especially her partner, Jennie, and family. Her tenacity, stubbornness, and personal discipline helped her fight debilitating illnesses in her later years. She has been a committed supporter of the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) group here in El Paso, providing up-to-date information about this rare disease. She donated her mortal body to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for research to help others like herself.

She departed this world peacefully on Memorial Day 27 May 2024.

She is survived by her partner of 30 years, Jennie Larder, twin sister Janet Osborne (Kenny), mother Delores “Sunny” Peterson, brother Harold Blaine Wright (Sandra), and baby sister, Valerie Peterson.

She is preceded in death by her father Louis Wright, brothers Louis Kenneth Wright and Richard Wright, and her beloved pup Maggie Mae.

Many, many thanks to all her doctors at Texas Tech and Urgent Care Hospice who helped us so much during her last days.
