Jerry Wayne Austin, 77, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 25, 2015. Jerry was born in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma on July 7, 1938. He was a graduate of Plainview High School in Plainview Texas, and then served in the US Navy Reserve from 1956 to 1962. He owned and operated Austin’s Wrecker Service from 1973 to 1982 and Property Damage Appraisers from 1982 to 2003.
Jerry has been a member of the Five Points Lions Club for 33 years, and served on the Lions for Vision Board of Directors for 29 years. Currently, he is the CEO and founder of Children’s Visual Assistance Program.
He enjoyed fishing and having fish-fry dinners with family and friends. He was a long time member of First Assembly of God church for 40 years, and sang in the church choir. He more recently attended Life Worth Living Church – and loved to sing the old hymns.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Irene Young Austin. They were married on September 25, 1958, and enjoyed their 58 years of marriage together.
He believed and taught his three sons Marlin Lee Wayne Austin, Timothy Glen Austin, Gregory Scott Austin a good work ethic. As a result, they are all very successful and dedicated to what they do. He is also survived by three grandchildren Socorra Lynn Austin of Albuquerque, NM, Kataryna Suzanne Austin of Loveland, CO. Alexandru Patrick Austin of Loveland, CO. One daughter-in-law, Cera Austin of Loveland, CO. and one brother Marion “Butch” Austin.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Pauline Austin, and brothers Donald Lewis Austin of Lone Wolf, OK, Kenneth Ray Austin of Altus, OK, and Eddie Paul Austin of Lone Wolf, OK.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home (Northeast) 4631 Hondo Pass on Tuesday Nov 3 from 5-9pm
Service will be at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday Nov 4 at 9am with burial at Ft Bliss following at 11am.
Pastor Steve and Charlene Norman will be officiating the service.
